It looks as though UFC 249 will take place in “The Sunshine State.”
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the May 9 pay-per-view event is slated to take place in Florida. The people, who requested anonymity because the promotion’s plans aren’t public, also confirmed that fighters will fly into Jacksonville before traveling to the still-undisclosed location.

UFC 249 was originally scheduled to take place April 18 in Brooklyn, N.Y., before it was moved to Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, Calif. The event was officially postponed earlier this month due to concerns with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an order earlier this month approving a list of essential businesses, which could include MMA. The order enables events for “employees at a professional sports and media production with a national audience — including any athletes, entertainers, production team, executive team, media team and any others necessary to facilitate including services supporting such production — only if the location is closed to the general public.”

The Florida State Boxing Commission confirmed in a follow up email to MMA Fighting that they are prepared to regulate a professional sports production as long as it adheres to the guidelines. The commission has already regulated one professional MMA event during the pandemic, employing social distancing and enhanced attendee screening for a show held in an empty arena.
UFC 249 is currently headlined by a pair of title fights: Tony Ferguson takes on Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title, and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo defends his title against former champion Dominick Cruz.

It's kind of dumb they are forcing this card to go on in it's current form..... You have two great main event level fights on the original card but you want to sacrifice those in order just to run the event when it you wait a couple more months you can have the real thing

I think Pettis, as diminished as he is, can still pull it off. Both guys do better in kicking range than pure boxing, but Pettis has the power edge. And Donald's brain has to already be mush coming into this fight. Hasn't he been TKO'd 2-3 times in like 9 months?

The question is does that happen before or after Pettis' bones shatter.

I’ve reached the point of exhaustion with the constant stupidity of those who are desperate for a return to normal.

I’m just in “fuck it, let’s learn the hard way” mode at this point.

Too bad they won't allow an audience. Could chip away at least at some of the Florida problem. Hurricanes only do so much.

UFC plans to hold three events in a week, starting with UFC 249 on May 9
The second week of May will be a busy one for the UFC.
UFC President Dana White told ESPN during an Instagram Live interview that the promotion is planning to hold events on May 9, May 13, and May 16 in Florida. The May 9 show was previously announced as the new date for the postponed UFC 249 event (originally scheduled for April 18).
According to White, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed off on these shows and the Florida State Boxing Commission will handle regulation.
A press release sent out on Friday confirmed reports that UFC 249 will take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. The event will be headlined by an interim lightweight championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. It will air live on pay-per-view exclusively through ESPN+.
White could not confirm where the May 13 and May 16 shows would be broadcast, saying that would be ESPN’s call. However, they will also take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
He added that the UFC is still working on setting up Fight Island for future events and that it “should be up and running by June.”
