To be clear, you're not an asshole for not liking the flyweight division.
But you're an asshole for celebrating people losing their job.

They should be allowed to move up, at least give them the option.

Exactly. They had contracted fights. They should have been awarded at least one fight at 135. Win you stay, lose you're gone.

Only the fighters have to honor the contract. It's optional for the UFC.

And you're an asshole for that assumption, what are they supposed to do float a money losing division.

What about not giving some guys the choice to move up? Fuck the divison. These men have families and lives. They have bills like all of the rest of us.

Oh yeah that's a shitty move, but the UFC has been fucking the fighters over for 20 years, we can't act all surprised now.

Fucking lame. But the way they have treated the division and the GOAT has been fucking lame from almost its inception. Fuck them (where they poop).

Can you back up it's a money losing division ? it may not be as profitable as some but it's a stretch to say it's a money losing division without some numbers behind it.

They wouldn't be folding it if it made them money.

They would if they don't feel their efforts are worth the profits generated. Using DJ's last headlining PPV they probably grossed about 7-8 million before sharing PPV and gate receipts with their partners. Break that down they make roughly half of that so we go on the low side and say 3.5 million before expenses. Fighter salary that night we'll round out to about 1.5 million. that leaves them 2 million to pay for staffing, logistics etc. I'd say they would be able to pull a profit off of this. But it would be miniscule compared to a big event and not nearly enough for Dana to buy another Ferari with. (this of course ignores all merchandise sales generated at the venue and any revenue generated from this event afterwards).

I'd also suggest that having a flyweight like DJ who can headline the TV cards which are profitable is bonus for them as it allows them to keep a bigger draw available for a PPV.

I'd be more inclined to say they have no clue how to market the division within North America and are unable/unwilling to tap the international market with them instead. The overall lack of focus on developing new talent doesn't help either.
