You have to give the dude credit. he made bank before getting to the UFC (as far as fighters outside the ufc getting big paydays). the last three fights he had before the UFC he made
    $100,000 (Palomino)
    $120,000 (Foster)
    $140,000 (Firmino)
in WSOF, but he doubled that when he got to the ufc. But he had to get to 15-0 before he could break $100,000 and i would think he could have gotten to the UFC sooner.

WSOF pays their guys pretty well for an org that isn't a "UFC"

Oh no doubt, but the guy was a bad ass collegiate wrestler, I just wonder how much money he'd be making right now fighting for a title instead of getting knocked out for fight bonuses.. I mean with his style and skillset he could be winning fights and collecting the 50k all while raising his price tag by contending but instead he's going the lesser successful Donald Cerrone route it seems.

And you know what pains me the most about these wrestlers? It's like they've forgotten the teachings of Mark Coleman, and Randy Couture. A guy with Gaethje's power and wrestling could be absolute monster in the GnP department.

that's a good question, but a guy liek Justin probably figured he would be better off making money hammering dudes. shit he did it well.

I don't dislike the guy, i just hate all these people constantly saying 'oh this guy will come in and wreck shop in the UFC, and time after time it doesn't happen.

i don't think people realize the difference in any other org and the level of guys in the UFC.

this is another in a long list of proof that it doesn't matter what you did outside of it, it's what can you do inside the octagon

I know he is not wrecking shop but he is doing pretty well. No one thought he’d be a UFC champion. He has hung with some good guys and has had good fun fights. Poirier is no joke. He is really good. That said he should fight smarter.

I’d love to see him fight Barboza. Two leg kickers chopping away.

Matt Brown has carved out a 10-year, 24-fight, 5-bonuses UFC career by being a near .500 fighter.

Matt Brown has poor defense, Matt Brown isn't willingly allowing people to punch him in the face he's just bad at preventing it.

he came around pretty well. back 9 years ago he went 1-5. i figured he was done.

but then he went on a 7 fight, 2 year slaughterhouse building his record back up. going in to that period 12-11 and coming out at 20-12 is damned impressive in the UFC. Though he wasn't beating world killers back then anyone going on a 7 fight win streak in the UFC is impressive. the problem was he then ran into Robbie Lawler then Johny Hendricks to stuff him into back to back losses.

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, including the official UFC Athlete Outfitting sponsorship program pay. They also do not include any other “locker room” or special discretionary bonuses the UFC often pays.

Additionally, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC on FOX 29 fight-night bonuses to Poirier and Gaethje for “Fight of the Night” and Oliveira and Wieczorek for “Performance of the Night.”

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

Dhiego Lima just got 15 grand. Doesn’t he have quite a few UFC fights?

i think it's low too, but he's fighting on prelims. not even the main card and maybe I'm wrong but is he even fighting on the premier prelims? i don't remember.

But i don't have an answer as to where the line should b e on fighter pay. I can say i don't think guys fighting on fightpass prelims deserve big bucks, but i don't know what I think about things like FS1 prelims. those are really low rated shows.
