anyone know what the cage mesh is made of? i was watching the diaz/sakurai fight today and it looked like the cage was some kind of cloth instead of the traditional chain link fence. is it nylon or something? anyone know?

Trigg was talking about it during the fights.... I forget exactly what he said it was made out of but he said it was a little "softer" but "more abrasive" than the regular cages you're used to seeing

Not much help, I know. lol. Thought I'd share though

thanks. i thought it looked really cool and it probably feels a lot better than the metal cage on the skin.

I'm actually watching the it now (dvr) and according to Trigg it has more give but is more abrasive on the skin.

It looked a bit cheaper/less sturdy on the whole.

Trigg said it was tuna netting and I thought it was a type of netting also. It has to be more abrasive unless it was made out of silk (absolutely not sturdy) or hemp (a lot more sturdier)

Looked like some type of vinyl lined rope to me...

I think it was actually tuna netting, it didn't look covered with anything smooth and like I said Trigg himself said "it's weird they'd use tuna netting because it's abrasive" so my vote's still for tuna net.

Why the fuck don't they just use the traditional chain link fencing wrapped in plastic to keep it from cutting the fighters like everyone else uses? Why create a cage and use something that could potentially hurt a fighter?

Do any of you think this material would be able to withstand the main event from this Saturday night? I personally think that as soon as one of them drove in for a TD and they hit that net they would be in Cecil Peoples lap.
