Who takes it?
The younger, hungrier talent takes this one. Woodley is too well rounded, fast, and powerful for GSP.
Prime GSP would have handily beaten even this version of Woodley but GSP is far from his prime now.
Although Woodley is a well spoken, explosive, pure athlete, I still think GSP would win.
Can go either way, GSP is the smartest fighter of all-time , and Woodley has a really high fight IQ himself and a lot of tools, as well as the fortune of being evolved from an Eastern gorilla. I say now, probably Woodley by decision.
Woodley by explosive, fast twitch muscle fibers.
I'd rather see GSP fight Lawler.
The only physical aspect that GSp has an advantage at is kicks. Woodley is faster, stronger, quicker, bigger power, and after the Wonderboy sessions his striking D is phenomenal.
Both would cancel each other on the ground. While GSp might have the better takedowns, Woodley's wrestling is top notch, and he has a solid bottom game, and can get back to his feet before taking any damage.
Conditioning would be about even.
Many would say that GSp has the higher Fight IQ, and in theory that may be true. However, just a look at Woodley's last three opponents shows how well versed he is in attacking and defending different styles. He handled the power and stalking style of Lawler. He managed to avoid getting his head kicked off by Wonderboy and was able to land some very powerful shots on a guy thats pretty hard to hit. And he stonewalled Maia's groundgame.
So while GSp might have a theoretical higher Fight IQ, Woodley's practical Fight IQ is on par with anyone's in the fight game.
Prediction: Woodley wins a 5-Round decision (48-47, 48-47, 47-48)
Don't forget how explosive and well spoken Woodley is.
That too. He might be the most athletic guy in the division
I think Woodley would have the ability to stop takedowns and is skilled enough to get in and out of GSP's range. More so than anyone else GSP's fought.
