I think Munoz brings the fight to Lombard. I don't think Lombard can handle the pressure that Munoz will bring. That is unless another Lombard shows up to that fight than showed up to the Boetsch fight. Munoz will bring much more pressure than Boetsch. I mean I think he basically just out points Lombard, but he should win.

I don't trust Muñoz's chin at this point. If he doesn't get Lombard down then he's going to sleep.

I feel like this is a pretty bad match up for Munoz. He has to get this fight to the ground and Lombard has some serious takedown defense. If it stays on the feet (which I think it will), Munoz is going to sleep imo.

I can see Munoz winning if he makes Lombard gas, which is possible. But like I said, he's going to have a hard time getting Lombard down, and I don't think he's good enough to make it happen on the feet. A likely situation is Munoz going for a takedown and ending up having Lombard pressed up against the cage. But given Lombard's judo prowess, I doubt Munoz finds much success in clinch situations... he may even end up getting thrown on his head or eating some big knees

Here's the thing about Lombard. I was as sold as anyone else going into the Boetsch fight that he was gonna steamroll the UFC's middleweight division until he got to Anderson. Then he fought Boetsche the way he did and you gotta look back at his record. Jesse Taylor and Trevor Prangley are the best fighters he's faced since Gegard Mousasi which was also his last loss. So at this point, using the Boetsche fight as evidence, I think Munoz beats him. If he comes out in his next fight and flatlines whoever it is, then I'd be wrong.

That said, I don't get why people are saying after one fight he needs to go to 170. I feel Boetsche won but he never had Lombard in trouble and size wasn't exactly an issue.

Lombard by KO, Munoz is really sloppy on the feet.

Very good question my friend. Some of us fly a little closer to the ground than others, I suppose.

Boetch won the fight because he wasnt pressuring Lombard.

Styles make fights. Boetch was intent on staying on the outside and pot shoting Lombard. That makes a hell of a difference and won the fight.

Munoz will come inside, get his TDs stuffed, and eventually one of those fast ass hooks of Lombard will get through.

I reckon Munoz by UD or TKO,Hector had good TDD but his feet are always planted firmly to the mat,I think Munoz blows right through him with strong takedowns,no way Munoz is gonna stand & trade with guys after what just happened in his last fight,he'll go back to basics & play to his main strength,TDs & GnP

When you're an Olympic calibur Judoka and you're as powerfully muscled as Lombard, no one is just gonna blow right through you. That doesnt even make any logical sense.

Again, look at the competition he's faced compared to the competition of Munoz. Not saying he won't happen, but Lombard beating a bunch of fighters not even close to top 10 is a big difference than stepping in against someone near top 5.

Happened when GSP debuted in the UFC vs Karo, hell even Babalu & Machida took Soko down, they might not have run through him but they're not exactly the same level of wrestler that Munoz is. Point is that it happens whether it makes sense or not.

I've always been underwhelmed by Munoz's wrestling too. He's obviously top notch, but for a national champ he sure seems to have trouble with some guys he should be able to take down at will.

He is also very small for his division, there are some ww that are bigger than him.

Probably why Hamill manhandled him at 205. That fight was hard to watch

WTH does that have to do with anything? Lombard has some of the best Judo in the world. Come on now, you should know MMA math doesnt work.

Karo does not have the muscle mass and strength P4P of Lombard, let alone GSP. Soko Sucks!! The fighter makes the Martial Art, the martial art doesnt make the fighter. Not to mention Babalu has pretty great BJJ, and Machida has some of the best TDD and TDs in MMA since he's also pretty damn good at Sumo wrestling.

Anyway, this is still MMA math
