No. He fought at 145 and didn’t look huge. How about Frankie Pettis?

I imagine that the weight cut to FW is too much for him, but I kind of thought that was going to be his "reinvented-self" wheelhouse. Pettis made his bones before fighters started dropping huge amounts of weight, and his frame size matches up well there. I think there was a rush to get him into a title shot, and he was overmatched against Holloway, but I think there are great fights there for him. I'd love to see him face Cub, Edgar, and I'd still watch the shit out of Aldo/Pettis, even if it falls into the 5+years-after-the-fight-SHOULD-have-been-made catagory.

But I think it's an interesting development...when fighters look to go back to the lab and find a new groove, too many are far more likely to look to a new weight class with the same old skill set...my boy Penn is a classic example...pause a moment to pour a little out for the shreds of his career... I thought Swick was going to shake that mentality with his move to Thailand, but then he never came back.

It's funny, reading this after @Noise 's creative-types posts in the other thread, switching weightclasses is the least creative solution to a slump. I can't think of a fighter it really worked for.

I think Wonderboy and the majority of the top 10 WWs steamroll Pettis.

Bobby Knuckles; I think he was, what? 1-2 before his switch to middleweight. 8-0, holding the strap with wins over Jacare, Yoel (x2), Hall and Brunson since. Hell, even Bobby's next contender was a former welterweight.

I'm not a fan of weight class switching either though; the trendy obligatory internet arm chair "anti-weight cutting" science harangues in particular get old.

Pettis has taken some beatings in his last few fights and is 4-6 in his last 10. A move to WW will only making the beatings worse.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Pettis in ONE or Bellator

Wonderboy should win, but he also has nothing to gain from winning this fight. He's still at the top of the division and a loss against Pettis would be setting him back a couple of years.

Pettis is too dangerous at any weight imo. He can certainly submit Thompsons

I hope this fight lives up to both fighters potential. This could be an amazing fight... which means it will probably be a dud.
